The Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology Markus Klass (Emory University School of Medicine) gave the presentation at the National Center of Surgery.
The presentation was dedicated to the new approaches to anesthesiology.
The guests were welcomed by the administration staff members of the National Center of Surgery. The general director of the clinic Lasha Bazadze, the chairman of the supervisory board Tea Gamezardashvili and the clinical director Nikoloz Chaduneli noted that the National Center of Surgery would always be held such important events with a great pleasure.
The presentation was attended by anesthesiologists, the heads of the Department of Anesthesiology from the National Center of Surgery and its clinic "New Life", and invited guests.
Most of the presentation was devoted to NORA (nor operating room anesthesia), the so-called "office surgery" (anesthesia performed during endoscopy, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, emergency room, etc.) and the US experience in this field.
According to the professor, in the last decade, the tendency of performing the anesthesia outside the operating room has increased and noted that a significant proportion of complications occurs because of NORA. He and his team have studied the statistics of complicated cases in order to create the safest environment for the patient.
The professor also provided statistics that clearly demonstrated how the number of complications in the operating rooms has significantly decreased over the past decade in the United States.
At the end of the presentation, the professor thanked the heads of the clinic and the audience for the warm welcome.
The Department of Anesthesiology is equipped with an Anaesthetic machine “Drager” with blood gas analyzers, infusion equipment, invasive and non-invasive, new generation cardiac monitors.
The following types of anesthesia are used in the Department of Anesthesiology:
• General Balanced Anesthesia;
