The innovative method of the pain treatment in the spinal area - Spinal disk herniation was removed with the endoscopic method in National Center of Surgery

For the first time in Georgia, the extremely complicated surgical operation was performed on the spinal column in National Center of Surgery.

The clinic’s Georgian neurosurgeons conducted the operation under the supervision of the neurosurgeon, Professor Tunc Koc, who works in Turkey.

Diagnosis

We’d like to remind you that a few weeks ago National Center of Surgery announced the visit of the Turkish Professor. In particular, anyone interested, who had a spinal pathology and/or neurosurgical problem could utilize the Turkish neurosurgeon free consultation offer.

After the free consultation, the professor would divulge patients who were subjected or needed timely surgical intervention.

The young lady, who was suffering from unbearable spinal pain, utilized this exact free promotion. On the basis of magnetic--resonance tomography, the patient was diagnosed with spinal disk herniation. The hernia caused the compression of the nerve (pressure, crushing). Before the patient visited the clinic, she received medication treatment and physiotherapy, but in vain - the condition needed surgical intervention.

It should be noted that the nerve compression develops when the surrounding tissues, bones, muscle, cartilage or tendon pressures the nerve, resulting in a disorder of a nerve function

Operation - Microdiscectomy with endoscopic method

As head of the neurosurgery department of National Center of Surgery, Giorgi Egutidze stated in an interview with us, the large-scale operation was conducted without the cut, only one puncture remains.

Mr. Egutidze stated - "Microdiscectomy with an endoscopic approach is a highly effective method because the spine practically doesn't sustain any traumas. It is also interesting to note that the operation proceeds without anesthesia. Subsequently, the patient is awake during the operation and is able to speak with the surgeon. In this particular case, the hernia was removed and the pain disappeared momentarily. Special technical equipment (ultra-modern endoscopic apparatus, monitor, instruments) necessary for the operation was brought by the Turkish professor”

Patient health condition

Exactly a day after the operation, the patient was discharged home with a satisfied health condition. She’s not suffering from spinal pain and has returned to the usual rhythm of life.

Similar promotion is planned again in the future. Therefore, if you’re suffering from any spinal pathologies or/and neurosurgical problems, please, keep an eye on the official web-page and “facebook” of National Center of Surgery.
