Croatian football player Ivica Žunić received treatment at National Center of Surgery.
Football player suffered a severe facial injury at the match between “Gabala” and “Dinamo Tbilisi” (the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League).
Emergency brigade brought Croatian defender to National Center of Surgery. He fractured zygomatic complex and fundus of the eye socket.
Upon admitting to the clinic patient had the following symptoms:
- Numbness in the upper jaw;
- facial asymmetry;
- Dizziness;
- Severe headache.
Computed tomography of the brain and facial bones was performed. Our team of maxillofacial surgeons conducted reconstruction and reposition-fixation of the fractured facial bones and sanation of the maxillary sinus. Titanium mini plates, screws and biological membranes were used in the operation.
The 2-hours long operation was successful – facial symmetry, zygomatic complex and fundus of the eye socket were restored. The football player was discharged with an improved health condition in two days.
A few hours ago, Croatian defender posted a status on the official facebook page of National Center of Surgery.
The post reads as follows – “After a serious injury at the football match I was brought to this hospital, where I was successfully operated by Dr. Shota Lobzhanidze and would like to thank everyone.”
