An endoscopy unit is functioning at the clinic of the National Center of Surgery "New Life".
The clinic offers a full range of endoscopic examinations and manipulations. In "New Life" you can benefit from all the modern methods implemented in the most prestigious medical centers in the world.
The latest generation endoscopic machine of the clinic “New Life”, best in the world, OLYMPUS EVIS EXERA III CV 190 series, is manufactured in Japan and distinguished by high-quality visualization and maneuvering. Due to the device, doctors have the ability to detect Gastro-intestinal tumors timely and carry out an effective treatment plan, that does not happen in all of the clinics in our country. One of the main advantages of the device, visualization of an image in HD quality, allow us to make an accurate diagnosis, investigate every millimeter of the gastrointestinal system and in advance detect pathologies such as tumor processes in the early (in situ) stage, and therefore start the treatment timely.
The new generation endoscopic apparatus of the clinic "New Life" is the leader in the diagnosis of any pathology of the gastrointestinal tract.
In addition to endoscopy machine, the endoscopy unit is equipped with Argonoplasmic Coagulation machine, produced by German company "ERBE", which is unique to our region and allows us to treat different diseases without performing open surgeries. This machine makes it possible to prevent oncology diseases, such as ablation of Barrett's esophagus using the endoscopic method. It is noteworthy that it is a very common disease in our country and is considered to be a pre-cancerous stage, which develops during a hiatal hernia.
We carry out minimally invasive interventions on a biliary system, stomach, large intestine. We also offer the ligation of esophageal varices, ablation of Barrett's esophagus. Manipulations to stop the bleeding, remove various lesions using an endoscopic method are performed successfully in the endoscopy unit.
Free consultations with doctors are regularly held in "New Life". Also, we offer various promotions for gastroscopic and colonoscopic studies, which will enable patients to receive full and highly qualified services at minimal cost
The promotion is led by the surgeon-endoscopist of the clinic of the National Center of Surgery "New Life", Irakli Paichadze.
Mr. Irakli talks to us about the ulcer diseases of the stomach and duodenum.
-At what age is the peptic ulcer disease most common?
- Peptic ulcer most often occurs among patients aged 31 to 50 years. In most cases, ulcers are located in the bulb of the duodenum and in the antrum of the stomach. Symptoms of this disease are pain and burning in the epigastric region (the stomach area), heartburn periodically appears, which is intensified during hunger (so-called hunger pains). The main cause of peptic ulcer (50-70%) is a Helicobacter pylori, it can also be caused by alimentary (nutritional), chemical (medicamentous) and stress factors.
During a peptic ulcer, there are complications such as bleeding, malignant transformation, perforation (loss of integrity of the organ wall), penetration (the spread of the pathological process in other organs). That is why early diagnosis and treatment of peptic ulcer is very important to prevent the above-mentioned complications.
-What can you tell us about the causes and symptoms of the gastroesophageal reflux?
- Gastroesophageal reflux is the pathology, which is caused by the incomplete closure of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), which causes the reflux of gastric contents into the esophagus. Factors contributing to the development of this disease include unhealthy diet, various sports, and physical activity. During the illness, the following symptoms are likely to appear: heartburn, belching, nausea, vomiting, a burning sensation near the scapula, bad taste and smell in the mouth (in the morning), blood pressure changes, pain, flatulence, digestive problems.
- Could you tell us about some major risk factors that exacerbate the gastroesophageal reflux disease?
- One of the most frequent and noteworthy risk factors is the development of Barrett's esophagus, which is a precancerous disease. At this time, ulcers in the lower third of the esophagus and tissue degeneration occur.
- Can the disease be prevented and how can we do that?
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease and hiatal hernia are chronic diseases, but, with a change of lifestyle, help of medications and surgical intervention, it is possible to counterbalance the complaints caused by this disease.
- How is the gastroesophageal reflux diagnosed and treated at the clinic “New Life”?
- Gastroesophageal reflux can be diagnosed by endoscopy and radiological examination. Treatment of this disease occurs both conservatively (using medication), and with the help of endoscopy and surgical intervention.
- Why should a patient go to the clinic “New Life” to treat peptic and duodenal ulcer disease, how does it differ from other clinics?
- In the clinic "New Life" the treatment of stomach and duodenal ulcer occurs according to international standards. The clinic is equipped with the latest endoscopy device (Olympus Exera III), which allows us to diagnose the pathologies of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, colon, including detecting tumor processes at an early, IN SITU stage. With the help of this endoscopy device, it is possible to perform various manipulations for the treatment of various diseases.
The ablation of Barrett's esophagus is already performed at our clinic using the endoscopy approach, the treatment of cardiac achalasia (cardiospasm) with balloon dilatation, polypectomy, etc.
In addition, experienced and qualified endoscopists of the clinic "New Life" are ready to provide medical treatment for patients for 24 hours.
