Ultrasound imaging of the abdominal and pleural cavity was conducted, based on which abdominal effusion was identified.
As reanimatologist of National Center of Surgery Manuela Pipia stated in an interview with us, studies diagnosed rupture of abdominal aortic aneurysm.
"Due to the severe health condition upon admission to the clinic, the patient couldn't indicate symptoms or complaints. The patient suffered from severe abdominal pain before hospitalization. Pain caused a decrease in blood pressure and profuse sweating. Family members called an emergency" – Stated Ms. Manuela
A patient with a diagnosis of a ruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm was moved to a hybrid operating room 21 minutes after admission to the clinic, where prosthesis of abdominal aortic and iliac arteries was conducted.
We asked Angiosurgeon of Endovascular Department Giorgi Kenchadze to comment on the operation and patient’s health condition.
"Patient's abdominal aortic aneurysm was ruptured, the patient also had thoracic and iliac arterial aneurysm, albeit the later (thoracic and iliac) weren't ruptured. The prosthesis of abdominal aortic and iliac arteries was conducted. When we deal with a ruptured aneurysm, every second counts and that's why we moved the patient to the operating block and provided respective care without wasting time” – stated Mr. Giorgi
The operation proceeded without any complications, currently patient continues the treatment in the Department of Critical Medicine.
