Gold autumn indulges us with this delicious fruit.
Grape is packed with essential nutrients, powerful plant compounds (more than 1600 beneficial plant compounds have been identified), antioxidants, and vitamins. Keep in mind that, the darker the grape is, the more antioxidants it contains.
Endocrinologist of the clinic “New Life” of National Center of Surgery, Ana Mamasakhlisi discusses the topic.
Endocrinologist states – "Grape is distinguished with a high level of following antioxidants: Resveratrol, vitamin C, beta-carotene, quercetin, lutein, lycopene, ellagic acid, catechin, anthocyanin. According to the American Cancer Society, reservatrol is acknowledged as a powerful anti-cancer antioxidant. According to particular published studies, regular intake of grapes reduces the risks of colon, breast and prostate cancers and Alzheimer's disease development in rats, albeit the number of such studies in humans is limited at this stage. Antioxidants remain in grapes even after fermentation, and that's why the well-known red wine is beneficial for your health."
We present you health benefits of the grape:
- Reduces the risks of cardiovascular diseases and atherosclerosis development. It's very beneficial for arterial hypertension. Decreases the level of total and "bad," i.e., low-density (LDL) cholesterol and increases the level of "good," i.e., high-density (HDL) cholesterol;
- Beneficial for prophylaxis of glaucoma, cataract, and other age-related eye diseases. Grape contains two primary antioxidants (zeaxanthin and lutein) that have a protective effect on eyes;
- Improves memory, attention, concentration and the mood;
- Because it contains calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, manganese, and Vitamin K, it’s beneficial for bone health;
- Positively affects the immune system;
- Beneficial for structures of the skin and hair.
Negative qualities of the grape
Grape is distinguished with a high level of carbohydrates, which cause an increase in glycemia (blood sugar) in the blood, therefore it is not recommended during diabetes.
Wish you health!
