November 18 is World COPD Day (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)

COPD is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the world, it increases the risk of developing lung cancer.

COPD, so chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, is characterized by chronic airflow restriction, a range of pathological changes in the lungs, some noticeable extrapulmonary effects, and significant co-morbid conditions that affect the severity of the patient's disease.

Its pulmonary element is characterized by a restriction of respiratory flow that is not fully reversible. Respiratory flow restriction usually progresses and is associated with an abnormal inflammatory response of the lungs in response to exposure to harmful particles or gases.

Tobacco consumption is the most common risk factor for COPD worldwide, however, air pollution from the burning of firewood and other organic products is also considered to be a risk factor for COPD.

COPD often develops in long-term middle-aged smokers, with patients often experiencing other illnesses related to tobacco use or age. During COPD there is an increased risk of pathologies such as:

  • Weight loss;
  • Eating disorders;
  • Skeletal muscle dysfunction;
  • Myocardial infarction;
  • Stenocardia/Angina pectoris;
  • Osteoporosis;
  • Respiratory infections;
  • Fractures;
  • Depression;
  • Diabetes;
  • Sleep disorders;
  • Anemia;
  • Glaucoma.

Timely diagnosis will protect you from lung damage!

The National Center of Surgery joins the World Day Against Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

At the base of our clinic, all conditions are created for the diagnosis and treatment of lung pathology, both on an outpatient and inpatient basis.

Wish you health!
