First of all, we list some harmful habits for the eyes:
- Looking at the computer screen without interruption for a long time;
- Often use someone else's makeup;
- For you, sunglasses are just a fashion accessory and you forget about their intended purpose - protection from the sun rays;
- Unhealthy lifestyle affects the health of the eyes, as well as the health of the heart, lungs, skin. Smoking and drinking large amounts of alcohol are the most dangerous for the eyes;
- Washing contact lenses with running water and increasing the risk of developing eye infections;
- Touch the eyes often;
- The screen of your mobile phone, TV or computer is brighter than recommended;
- Like watching the TV in the dark, also using a mobile phone or computer before bedtime;
- Love to read (book, magazine, information on a mobile or a laptop) even when you walk or use transport;
- Reading a book while lying down;
An ophthalmologist advises:
- For health, including vision, peaceful sleep is recommended for 8 hours. Insomnia is harmful to both physical and mental health;
- Pay attention to the diet. Products beneficial for the eyes: pumpkin, carrot, spinach, citrus, kiwi, avocado, nuts, leafy vegetables, seafood, eggs, yogurt, milk, berries, especially blueberries;
- Make sure that there is always enough light in the room;
- Particular attention should be paid to those who work in the office. If you work at a computer - blink often, every hour, at least for a few minutes, walk away from the screen;
- Spend your free time outdoors, away from the screen;
- Avoid dry eyes. The risk of this increases with the onset of winter when the heating is on at home or in the public buildings;
- If you use the contact lenses - before touching the lenses, wash and dry your hands thoroughly, pay attention to its expiration date, in case of pain or vision problems, redness or swelling, contact an ophthalmologist, do not use the damaged lenses, do not use someone else's contact lenses, store lenses only in the special containers, never wet the lens with saliva, it is forbidden to bathe and swim with lenses, it is forbidden to wash them with running water;
- Have the consultation with an ophthalmologist;
- After 50 years, it is recommended to conduct annual ophthalmic studies;
- In diabetes and other diseases that pose risk factors for the development of cataracts, it is advisable to visit an ophthalmologist every 6 months;
