Georgia is distinguished by the diversity of winter resorts.
If you plan on vacationing and skiing on a ski resort, consider the practical advice of National Center of Surgery.
National Center of Surgery’s head of the traumatology department Zurab Oragvelidze discusses the topic.
Several useful advice from the clinic’s head of the traumatology department :
It is unacceptable for the office worker to ski without special, proper preparation. It is not advisable for a beginner skier to spend a lot of time skiing from the very beginning, since excessive load is a serious challenge for the knee tendons. Thus the knee exacerbation risks increases, which often causes the knee’s inflammatory processes and even micro-traumas.
- Consult with an instructor
- Use a quality equipment
- Use protective helmets. This way you protect yourself from head and facial traumas;
- Choose clothes appropriate for the climate
- To prevent sunburns in the mountains, use sunscreen and sunglasses
- Study the relief and skiing territories. Avoid dangerous places;
- Don’t ski when drunk since alcohol significantly deteriorates and slackers the reactions
- If you don’t feel comfortable or you’re tired, don’t ski.
- In case of any traumas, first help is to stay immobilized (don’t move). At that moment the patient has to be immediately transferred to nearest specialized clinic.
