The Department of Hematology has been functioning at the National Center of Surgery for the four years.
It is the 18-bed department. 9 doctor-hematologist work in the department.
The Department has a blood laboratory where the well-known experts perform CBC, bone marrow and lymph node examination through the modern microscope.
The Doctors of the Department are treating severe diseases such as acute and chronic leukemia, Non-Hodgkin and Hodgkin lymphoma, myeloma disease, anemia, thrombocytopenic purpura, coagulopathy.
Gold standard chemotherapy, as well as low and high-dose chemotherapy courses, are performed. Hematologists cooperate with foreign colleagues. Together, they discuss the difficult cases, which are not easy to diagnose, and determine the tactics of treatment.
The Department, as well as the National Center of Surgery, participates in the Universal Health Program, in the scope of the program, the treatment of this pathology has become available for the majority of our population. Doctors of the Center participate in international studies.
On the bases of the center of Hemophilia and Thrombosis the diagnosis and further treatment of thrombosis, congenital and acquired bleeding pathologies is performed. The center has unique devices (which is exclusive in the Transcaucasia) to study the functional rate of platelet, which gives us the possibility to plan even more targeted treatment.
It is planned to create a transplantation center in order to make bone marrow transplantation available for patients with a systemic blood disease, which is the latest word in the modern medicine!
